I am not disabled, but I have recently helped my cousin with her PIP application. The form is bad enough, she could not have done it on her own, but the face to face assessment is just cruel, with some of the questions unnecessary and demeaning.
It should be clear that someone in her condition struggles to go to the toilet and might have accidents…no need to ask how often she has accidents and how she feels if she soils herself.
She lost £60 a week compared to DLA and from an indefinite award, now she will have to go through this unpleasant palaver every two years. She has a degenerative condition, she is not going to get better, the assessment has made her mentally worse, she is scared now.
