I am almost 69 and 3 years ago had a Capita assessment, as I am wheelchair dependent due to MS. Previously I had full DLA benefits, but was reduced to basic. The DA lied by saying I could walk 20 yards 3-4 times.
I vehemently denied that each time. Assessor organised a phone call from Capita to me, then when I answered it, wrote in the report that I had answered the phone. Wrote I could prepare and cook all my food, while herself refusing to join me in the kitchen, where I could demonstrate I cannot even reach the water tap, reach the hob safely or carry any saucepans, while in my self propelling wheelchair.
On appeal, DWP claimed I was observed walking 20 meters….even though I failed to even stand up for a physical test! They lie, but use as an excuse that they have no proof… my husband who witnessed it all was not suitable as a witness…the DA also lied about not having equipment in the bathroom…I have 6 grab rails. I took my claim to ICE after successfully using the tribunal service, but MS does get worse with stress and this whole thing costs so much in health.
