I am the mother of a severely disabled young man who needs 24/7 care because his Day Centre was closed. I fought for two years to have some daycare for him, for at least a few days a week.
I am exhausted and my own health is not that great. Eventually, we were offered 4 hours a day for 3 days a week, enough for me to get some sleep, have a proper shower, clean or do some shopping.
The Job Centre called me for an interview and suggested I find a job for those hours! The ‘kind’ lady warned me that once we are transferred to Universal Credit, I will have to work those hours as I am not caring for my son.
