After a year long battle I have just been awarded PIP

I live in Cornwall and have Autism and learning difficulties. After a year long battle I have just been awarded PIP. The award was given to me when I went to tribunal. i had to get help from outside of Cornwall to get my  Pip. the tribunal took just took around ten minutes to award the judgement. Suffered considerable stress as I waited for the tribunal to happen and it had an impact on trying to get more employment and retaining my involvement in my community.

I’m frustrated and angry at the way we deny opportunities and support to people who are simply not “faking” their impairments. On actual fact their disabilities are part of them and in many cases last for entire lifetimes. I want the language around welfare to change to more a positive tone and I want issues like SEN provision to be properly catered for.

No one should be trapped by poverty and the cold treatment from the DWP simply because they have a disability which they can’t change especially a significant disability which was gained through birth. I’m scared what will happen when l lose my family support.
